latest from Jinan

Today, we arrived at our relatives in Khan Younis, and when we left the Gaza area, the helicopter was shooting at people, and the cost of a half-channel truck for our baggage cost was 4,000 shekels, approximately 1196 dollars. With the bank application, it becomes 6600 shekels. 1974 dollars for a commission of 40%, and we have not yet found a home to rent the situation here.

Note from Madstun: We have a link to Jinans fundraiser on her page, please consider donating. It seems that somehow the bank system still works

23 september: Hello, yes the situation is still very scary the tanks are advancing around us, the internet is cut off and the generators are intermittent, and the lanterns they drop in the sky, yes it is a good thing that our country is recognized as it preserves our rights but this recognition did not stop the war, I am trying to promote a link but it is moving very slowly... I am still in Gaza, we found a bad house in Mawasi Khan Yunis and we are waiting for the truck that will come at 4 am to move our luggage, and a problem occurred with the owner of the house and the rental was cancelled with him so we will go to our relatives and from there we will look for a place to rent.

JINAN ELAILA

MADSTUN is hosting the Gaza artist Jinan Elaila as artist in residence from 15 july 2025 . Her artwork is largely destroyed by bombs, but will be presented as links to Instagram and possibly prints that can be bought digitally.

8 september she writes : Currently, I am in Gaza City and 11 other families of my relatives live in the same house. They were displaced from the Abu Iskandar area due to the bombing and the army’s advance there. We are now preparing, we have packed our bags and things and are waiting at zero point in case there is an imminent invasion of my area to be displaced to another place, but no one knows where it will go. The situation here is tense. We do not know what will happen next. There are groups of people who went south and then returned due to the overcrowding and high prices. However, if the military vehicles really advance, no one will stay here. The situation will be very dangerous and deadly. We will be forced to leave.

Today 9 september Benjamin Netanyahu orders everyone to leave Gaza city, but no one knows where to go.
